Custom domains

You can connect an existing domain while keeping it registered with your current provider.

Connect a custom domain

1. Use a Plus plan or above, and make sure you can change the domain's DNS records.
2. Open your site, select Edit, then open Domains.
3. Enter your main domain, such as example.com, and select Add domain. Use www.example.com if your DNS provider cannot connect the root domain.
4. At your DNS provider, add the exact records shown by ItsySite. Root domains need an ALIAS, ANAME or flattened CNAME.
5. Return to ItsySite and select Check again after changing DNS. The button becomes available once a short cooldown ends.
6. Publish your site. When the domain says Active, use View to check its secure HTTPS address.

A site can have up to 3 custom domains. DNS and certificate checks can take time; ItsySite handles HTTPS automatically.

What each status means

• Configuring: ItsySite is preparing the domain.
• Verifying: ItsySite is waiting for DNS and the secure certificate.
• Active: the domain is connected and secured with HTTPS.
• Needs attention: check every displayed DNS record, then try again.

Remove or replace a domain

1. Open Domains, select Remove beside the domain and confirm.
2. Remove its old ItsySite DNS records from your DNS provider if you no longer need them.
3. Add a replacement domain whenever you are ready.
